Yersinia enterocolitica has become increasingly important as an intestinal bacterium that is pathogenic for humans. This organism is transmitted orally through contaminated water or food. Typical symptoms of an acute Yersinia infection are diarrhea, stomach ache, and fever.

recomLine Yersinia assays use recombinant Yersinia outer membrane proteins (YOPs) and adhesins of only Yersinia strains that are pathogenic for humans.
