STATS (signal transducers and activators of transcription) are a family of cytoplasmic latent transcription factors that are activated to regulate gene expression in response to a large number of extracellular signaling polypeptides including cytokines, interferons, and growth factors. After phosphorylation by JAK tyrosine kinases, STATs enter the nucleus to regulate transcription of many different genes. STAT1 is activated by many different ligands including the interferon family, gp130 family, and receptpor tyrosine kinases. STAT1 has two forms, the 91 kD STAT1α and the 84 kD STAT1β, which are encoded by the same gene with splicing variant.
Antigen: Peptide corresponding to aa 712-750 of human STAT1α.
Host Species: Rabbit
Preservatives: 0.02% sodium azide.
This antibody recognizes full-length STAT1α (91 kD) and does not react with STAT1β.
Immunoblotting : use a1:1,000 dilution.
Immunoprecipitation: use 2-4 ug antibody per sample.
Positive control: Whole cell lysate from HeLa cells, Jurkat cells, or A431 cells.
Dilute in PBS or medium which is identical to that used in the assay system.
