DESCRIPTION
Recombinant Human Leptin produced in E. coli is a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 147 amino acids with a molecular mass of 16,240 daltons. This product has full biological activity.
SPECIFICATION SUMMARY
Source: Escherichia coli
Stabilizers: None
Preservatives: None
Purity: Greater than 95% by RP-HPLC, anion-exchange chromatography; reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE, silver stain.
Dimers/Aggregates: <1% by SDS- PAGE
Biological Activity: Fully biologically active compared to reference standards. ED50 determined by the leptin-dependent stimulation of human OB-R transfected murine BaF3 cells is 0.5-1.6 ng/ml.
Endotoxin: <0.1 ng/ug
Protein Content: Determined spectrophotometrically at 280nm (extinction coefficient 0.878) and by RP- HPLC analysis against a calibrated standard.
SOLUBILITY
Soluble in water and most aqueous buffers above and below the isoelectric point. Dialyzed against 45mM sodium bicarbonate prior to lyophilization.
STORAGE AND STABILITY
Lyophilized product is stable at room temperature, but should be stored desiccated at -20°C. Upon reconstitution, store at 4°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
For in vitro investigational use only. Not for use in therapeutic or diagnostic procedures
