Nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) is a ubiquitous transcription factor and key mediator of gene expression during immune and inflammatory responses. NF-κB activates numerous genes in response to extracellular stimuli, such as IL-1, TNFα, and LPS. NF-κB is associated with IκB in cytoplasm, which inhibits NF-κB activity. IκB kinase (IKK), which phosphorylates IκB and mediates IκB degradation and NF-κB activation, was recently identified. IKK is a serine protein kinase, and the IKK complex contains alpha and beta subunits (IKKα and IKKβ). IKKα and IKKβ interact with each other, and both are essential for NF-B activation. IKKα specifically phosphorylates IκB-α and is expressed in a variety of human tissues.
Antigen: Peptide corresponding to aa 716-734 of human IKKα which differs from the corresponding murine sequence by four amino acids.

This antibody recognizes human IKKα (85 kD). No cross-reactivity with IKKβ or IKKγ.
Immunoblotting: use at 1:1,000-1:2,000 dilution.
Positive control: Whole cell lysate from HeLa or Jurkat cells.
Dilute in PBS or medium which is identical to that used in the assay system.
