recomWell Helicobacter IgA
ELISA format with recombinant antigens for detection of IgG and IgA antibodies to Helicobacter pylori.
The gram-negative, spiral-shaped bacterium Helicobacter pylori was described by Warren and Marschall in 1983. Since then, the connection between chronic Type B gastritis and H. pylori has been well- documented. In fact, there is a causal relationship between H. pylori and almost all duodenal and stomach ulcers. Moreover,
H. pylori is associated with an increased risk of gastric adenocarcinomas. Apart from strains of different virulence, host factors may also be responsible for this phenomenon.
H. pylori infections induce IgG and IgA antibody responses; usually only low levels of IgM antibodies are found.
