Polyclonal Chicken Antibody Production

Chicken IgY antibody development has been useful when attempting to produce antibodies to mammalian proteins with high sequence homology to the same host proteins. QED Bioscience offers two different chicken polyclonal antibody development programs for your specific needs. Both programs utilize 3 adult laying leghorns in a 70 day protocol.

Advantages to producing antibodies in chickens include:

• High yields. Each egg yolk contains ~ 100mg of antibody (lgY) before purification.
• Large quantities.. Each chicken will average one egg every 2-3 days.
• Non-mammalian system. Since chickens are not mammals, they often respond very well to highly conserved mammalian antigens.

• IgY purification from 2 pre-immune eggs and 6 immune eggs (additional IgY purification is available (See “IgY Purification Services”)
• 6 mg of antigen required

IgY Purification Services:

• Yolk Isolation $1 per egg
• IgY Purification $600 per dozen
