Exclusive QED product greatly enhances antibody productionNewly patented cell culture medium boosts production up to 25 times over conventional technology
The cell culture medium, created by Exploit Technologies of Singapore, has been issued U.S. Patent #7,601,531. QED Bioscience currently uses it to greatly enhance production of monoclonal antibodies and recombinant proteins. Efficiencies facilitated by the technology lower production costs, allowing QED to pass the savings along to its customers. The product will be available via QED's online catalog in 2010. "The beautiful part of this technology is that once you set up production cultures, very little additional attention is required," said Eileen Skaletsky, President of QED Bioscience. "Production is much less labor-intensive and it eliminates the risk of contamination that comes with replacing the medium or relocating the culture." Skaletsky also pointed out that the technology is an excellent solution for organizations responding to an increasing sensitivity to using animals in science laboratories for antibody production. It also eliminates the presence of animal-derived proteins during production that could be problematic. "The technology has worked incredibly well for us," Skaletsky said. "We use it for our clients and often they're so thrilled with the results they want to buy it from us. We're making every effort to make that possible as soon as we can." -###- About QED Bioscience, Inc. About Exploit Technologies |
